Relaxing in the Manchester Airport V-Room

Manchester Airport’s new V-room, found in Terminal 2, is another in Virgin Airlines series of upper scale airport lounges for their clients. Designed for their Virgin Holiday travelers, the lounge is free to some travelers who book upscale hotels with their Holiday. If not, tickets to the lounge can be purchased through Virgin Holiday at 20 pounds for adults and 12 pounds for children under 12. Other Virgin travelers can purchase tickets ahead of time through Virgin Holiday.

The Manchester V-Room comfortably holds 100 people and is divided into several areas. Even with 100 people, this lounge will not seem that crowded. Some of the reason for this is that the area is divided into several sections. These work out to the adult, kiddie and teenager areas.

The children’s area complete with food, toys and video games for the kids. There are couches if the kiddies need to just nap between flights. Parents can check their kids into the kiddie area and kids don’t leave without their parents. The food and drink is age appropriate for kids, as are the assorted games and toys. There are also books, puzzles, word and board games. Video games are also age appropriate; no worries here about “”M”" rated adult games.

Do not despair if you are an adult. There is a section for you, too. The adult section has free internet, lots of seating, free food and drink, both cold and hot, free newspapers and reading materials, and quite a few areas to see the airport from the windows. Adults can also buy alcoholic beverages from the bar in the adult area. Virgin employees make sure that no one in the lounge misses their flights, which does not happen in the regular terminal.

Besides these two areas, there is a room filled with some unique video games. Games are both large and small, the 10 pin video bowling on the back wall is especially popular. Both the hunting and driving games are also quite popular, both to watch and to partake in. This area allows older kids and adults, although this area is designed for teens. This area also includes free internet and has terminals for access to the internet.

Washing and bathroom facilities are in easy reach of all of the room areas. Eager Virgin employees keep the area clean on a regular basis during open hours. Virgin employees in the lounge can also help you with flight changes and any other problems with your travel. The employees here in the lounge work for Virgin, not the airport. If you need a change to your hotel or car reservation through Virgin Holiday, you can find help here. Best, since the lounge is only for Virgin travelers, the V-room filters out all the announcements and noise from thousands of other passengers looking for their destinations. Plus, if you consider the cost of buying a meal at the airport for each passenger, the peace of mind with the kids, and the savings of keeping away from the airport shopping areas, the V-room pretty much pays for itself.
